Dear Colleagues,
It is with a heavy heart that I write to acknowledge the recent tragedy at UPMC-Memorial in York. Our thoughts are with the courageous physicians, advanced practice providers, nurses, hospital staff, and law enforcement officers affected by this devastating event. We extend our deepest sympathies to the family and friends of Officer Andrew Duarte, who made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty, as well as to the West York Police Department.

On Thursday December 5, 2025, the members of the York County Medical Society met with legislative members of our York County delegation (pictured from left to right above are Joe D’Orsie, Wendy Fink, Kate A Klunk & Kristin Phillips-Hill) at the Eagles Nest Restaurant to discuss a variety of topics and issues important to the medical community present. The interaction was structured to be informal and a lot of the conversation was one on one with particular legislators.

This Spring we will elect members to our board of directors of this Society. In early April, members are invited to visit our website to vote for board members and officers for the upcoming year beginning in June; the links to vote and to suggest nominations will be active on the site by April 1. Voting will be open until early May and the links for this will be prominently displayed on the front page of our website site by April 1.
And while you are pondering that, please be advised that the officer position of Vice-President will become an open position. As such we are open to volunteers who wish to be considered and nominated to this role. Please contact any board member or Mike Nixson here to discuss or submit your name in consideration.
All members are invited to attend the York County Medical Society’s annual invocation ceremony on Wednesday May 15, 2025. This event is open to all members and starts at 6 PM at the First Post Restaurant. A dinner will be served at which time a new President will be installed.
This is an excellent opportunity to meet with colleagues and friends for a social evening out.
